This September, Denver Days will be back in “Downtown Denver” and we sincerely thank the Callaway, Owens and Carswell families, for allowing the festival to be on their land once again. It is a pleasure for the Denver Days Board and volunteers to work with community-minded citizens like Dwight and Kay Callaway, Jason and Amanda Owens, Allen and Evelyn Carswell!
Monday, September 24th you can drive by and see Cole Rides beginning to set up the rides and bring in the carnival midway. Cole has a great reputation for quality rides and safety; each ride is thoroughly inspected to insure it meets all state and local standards. It is amazing what they can put together between arriving on Sunday and opening Wednesday afternoon!
We open at 5 PM on Wednesday, September 26 and run through Saturday night, the 29th. There will be something for everyone to see, a variety of food for dinner or snacks, rides for every age and plenty of shops. I don’t know about you, but I just cannot go to Denver Days and not come away without a funnel cake!
This year marks the 10th Annual Denver Days festival and the 3rd year since the Denver Lake Norman Rotary Club assumed responsibility. Many thanks to that original group of citizens with the idea and all the hard work invested in setting up Denver Days and keeping it going through the first seven years. The Rotary Club and its 55 members volunteer a lot of hours in the planning and set up and to keep everything running smoothly so your trip to Denver Days this fall will make for good memories, then we will see you again next year!
Most importantly, ALL net proceeds from vendors, advertisers, sponsors and a percentage of the rides will be earmarked for construction of the planned “East Lincoln Rescue Park” and we are getting closer to our goal of $705,000 and the start of phase one. The park has been in the planning for 3 years and will be located on 31 acres on Galway Lane, adjacent to the Lincoln Charter School.
Denver Days is for the whole family, and we hope to see you there!
